When you first meet with us, we know how difficult it may have been for you to contact our office and come in for therapy or life coaching. We understand that it can be difficult to ask for help. The realization that you don’t understand your mental health problems and don’t know how to address them is what motivates people to visit us.  Accepting that you can’t move forward on your own can be difficult.

The primary goals of therapy are to reduce or resolve mental health problems like depression and anxiety, heal from your past trauma, and address your daily struggles as they relate to these issues. Life coaching focuses on your goals and how to best reach them. You may find the need to do therapy and life coaching.

Each visit to your therapist and life coach is unique and shaped by your experiences, emotions, and goals. When you start working with your therapist, you will begin the assessment process - this involves letting your therapist know you better by discussing things like your family and why you decided to contact us to participate in therapy or life coaching.

In The Beginning

The assessment process is completed over time. We do not pepper you with question after question. We are most interested in why you came in and how we can help. We need to understand who you are and why you came and see if you feel connected with your therapist. Feeling comfortable and connected with your therapist is essential  You will begin building a foundation of trust and rapport. Establishing a safe and non-judgmental space is paramount, as it lays the groundwork for deeper exploration and healing.

When a strong therapeutic relationship has been established, you will begin the work of self-exploration. We provide insight-oriented therapy. You must recognize and understand your problems. Only then can you begin working with your therapist to uncover why you are struggling.

Through the use of psychodynamic therapy and cognitive therapy, you will learn how your past may be impacting your present and what thoughts are leading to your negative emotions and behaviors. We work with you to identify underlying patterns, beliefs, and dysfunctional coping mechanisms that may be contributing to your distress. Your therapist will encourage you to examine your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors with greater clarity and awareness.

Self-awareness, Mindfulness, and Insight

Essential to your therapy is learning to be more self-aware and mindful. In a non-judgmental environment, you will identify your core beliefs, thoughts, and emotions. This fosters personal growth and an openness to new possibilities.

As therapy progresses, the focus shifts toward developing coping strategies and problem-solving skills. You will be empowered to explore alternative ways of thinking and behaving that align with your life goals. You will learn how to find greater happiness and contentment. You and your therapist will navigate the therapeutic journey with resilience and determination.

The Change Process

Over time, you will begin to change. Your attitudes and perspectives about yourself and your life challenges will transform. Therapy is a journey of self-discovery, healing, and growth. Your work with your therapist and life coach will be supportive and non-judgmental. You will work with a professional and experienced therapist and life coach who will guide you toward greater self-awareness, healing, and goal attainment.
