What is an empath? Being a therapist requires the ability to walk into a client’s life and understand who they are and their emotional world. I am well-suited for the work I do because I am what is called an “empath.” I have a somewhat unique ability to sense and deeply understand the feelings of others.

An empath is a person who can experience and understand the emotions of others at an unusually deep level. The definition of empathy is being able to see and understand OTHER PEOPLE'S FEELINGS. An empath is a person who has the ability to connect and understand someone deeper than having empathy. An empath is someone who can see and experience the emotions of those around them as if they are their own. An empath is empathic but also has an uncanny ability to hear the unspoken emotions of others.

Having this ability allows me to connect with people of all backgrounds. Clients have told me how connected and understood they feel in their sessions with me. I have been asked about my ability to connect with and understand them so clearly. As an empath, I have the ability to listen to, understand, and help clients in a unique way.

Empaths are compassionate and understanding by nature, making us natural healers. We possess a natural ability to offer comfort and guidance, and connect and listen to others in a highly focused and intense way. We are able to see what is not being said and can help others identify their true feelings.

Because of the intense connection I have with others, I have had to establish protective boundaries and find ways to protect myself from becoming overwhelmed by the emotions of those I work with. If I allow myself to become overwhelmed by the emotions of others, I am not able to fully connect with the person I am working with in the present.

Being an empath is incredibly rewarding. My ability to understand and connect with others on such a deep level allows me to help others make meaningful changes in their life. Empaths bring comfort, healing, and hope to people who may feel lost and unable to recognize their emotions.

It's important to note that not all empaths are the same. Some of us are more sensitive than others, and some are better at protecting themselves from overwhelming emotions. Read more on Self-judgment and Perfectionism.

We can usually identify empaths in our world. They remind us of the importance of compassion, empathy, and understanding. They teach us to honor our emotions, both positive and negative, and they remind us of the struggles we face as individuals and as a society.
