When people contact me, I am often asked what the difference is between therapy and life coaching. Therapy is a method used to treat mental health problems such as depression and anxiety, while life coaching focuses on how to set and achieve life goals.
As reaching certain life goals can seem overwhelming, life coaching helps you identify your goals, what steps need to be taken to get them, and how to overcome what may be blocking you from reaching them. I help you with all three. A life coach works to help you navigate the challenges you have and unblock you from reaching your life goals, leading you to the success you desire.
Defining Your Life Goals
The first step to meeting your life goals is to define what your goals are clearly. I help you define and prioritize what truly matters to you. We focus on setting meaningful and achievable life goals.
After we have identified your goals, we create what is called an “action plan.” We list down to the smallest detail the steps you must take to meet your goals. Identifying these steps helps you to better motivate yourself toward meeting your goals as it demystifies the process. People are often unable to meet their life goals because they feel overwhelmed. The action plan leads the way.
Overcoming Obstacles
In life coaching, it is crucial to identify what may be or will be blocking you from reaching your goals. You can only move forward if you identify what is holding you back. This allows for outlining and targeting solutions. Internal blocks may be a lack of self-confidence and a fear of failing. Mental health struggles like depression and anxiety may also be blocking you. Here, we work in therapy to resolve the mental health problems you are experiencing.
External factors may also be a problem. Obstacles and setbacks are common on the path toward achieving your life goals. We will work on strategies and techniques to overcome your challenges. Staying focused and motivated is essential to reaching your life goals.
Accountability and Support
As a life coach, I am an accountability person for you. I help you stay on schedule and on track. By logging the steps needed to reach goals, you can track your daily progress and go over it with me. If you are running into blocks, we work together to strategize on how to remove what is blocking you or make adjustments to your plans as necessary. I assist you in cultivating a mindset of success. This sometimes requires an attitude shift. You must “proceed as if success is inevitable.” You will learn to be resilient and overcome self-doubt, even when you fail. We will challenge your beliefs that are holding you back and feel empowered.

To stay motivated and reinforce confidence, it is vital to recognize and celebrate your achievements. I will help you identify successes and encourage you to celebrate your success and progress toward meeting your goals.
